Sailm nan Daoine – Film & Workshop | BLF 2026

Join us for a special screening of Sailm nan Daoine (Psalms of the People), followed by a Gaelic psalm singing workshop led by  Rob MacNeacail.

Musician Rob's journey starts right on his doorstep, in Carlops, before winding through the Western Isles, East Belfast and County Cork in search of Gaelic psalm singing — a thousand-year-old tradition that's very much alive. Recording as he travels, he builds a soundtrack from harmonium, whistle, guitar and the sounds he finds along the way (yes, even a supermarket freezer), tracing connections between language, identity, community and cultural heritage.

Afterwards, stay for the workshop and take part in one of Scotland's most treasured traditions yourself — no previous experience necessary.
